MediaUnbound creates customized computer software and services to help customer companies provide music recommendation and personalization applications to their users. MediaUnbound’s technologies and services are primarily provided through its partner companies.

Types of Information MediaUnbound Collects and Uses

MediaUnbound collects and uses both anonymous and personal user information. This information and data comes primarily from third parties such as business partners and clients, and these third parties retain ownership and control over the data they provide.

How MediaUnbound Uses Personal Information

In general, MediaUnbound only uses personal information for the purpose it was collected, and always subject to the contractual terms set by MediaUnbound’s customer companies. This information is typically used to enhance the user experience provided by customer companies, and to aid customer companies in offering enhanced services and personalized recommendation applications to their users.


MediaUnbound conducts its business according to the EU Safe Harbor Principles issued by the U.S. Department of Commerce on July 21, 2000.

As a provider of computer software and services to help customer companies provide recommendation and personalization applications to their users, MediaUnbound does not own or control any of the information it processes on behalf of its customer companies, and all such information is owned and controlled by MediaUnbound’s customer companies. MediaUnbound receives information transferred from the EU to the U.S. merely as a processor on behalf; MediaUnbound acts as the Data Processor while its customer companies act as the Data Controllers.

MediaUnbound applies the following policies to all data processing operations concerning personal information that has been transferred from the EU to the U.S.:

Before commencing any processing on behalf of an EU customer, MediaUnbound will enter into a processing contract with the E.U. Data Controller (the customer company) pursuant to applicable EU Member State Data Protection laws. Any data processed by MediaUnbound will not be further disclosed to third parties except where permitted or required by the processing contract, EU Safe Harbor, or applicable EU Member State Data Protection laws. Furthermore, MediaUnbound has adopted systems and procedures to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.

As a processor on behalf of EU Data Controllers (MediaUnbound’s customer companies) MediaUnbound is not required to apply other EU Safe Harbor Principles to the personal information received for processing from a customer.


MediaUnbound will change, amend and update its privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our privacy practices, technology, products and services, general business operations and industry. In the event of any such change, MediaUnbound will post a revised policy at www.mediaunbound.com. MediaUnbound reserves the right to change, amend and update this privacy policy at any time in MediaUnbound’s sole and absolute discretion, and such changes will be effective upon posting of the revised policy.
