MTVN selects MediaUnbound to power recommendation feature for Urge Digital Music Service

CAMBRIDGE, MA - December 18, 2006 - MediaUnbound, a provider of music recommendation and personalization technology, announced today that it worked with MTV Networks to help build its new "My Auto-Mix" recommendations feature in its new URGE digital music service.

A My Auto-Mix features powerful customization tools that fans can manipulate to create personalized playlists based on songs, artists, music styles or moods that they choose. Using a set of sliders, listeners can dynamically customize their personalized playlists on the basis of familiarity, popularity and newness.

"URGE is designed to promote the concept of musical discovery, and My Auto-Mix is a key feature to help achieve that vision," said Michael Bloom, Vice President of Digital Music for MTV Networks and General Manager of URGE. "My Auto-Mix delivers customized music every time users access the service or sync their portable music player,extending the concept of discovery from the PC to the device."

Papish noted that, for example, a jazz expert will receive new playlists of deep cuts and recently uncovered gems, while the jazz newbie will slowly be introduced over successive playlists to the classics of this unfamiliar area of music.
